This custom compounded topical anesthetic medication contains a highly concentrated strength of active ingredients that may include Benzocaine, Lidocaine, Tetracaine, Dibucaine, and/or Prilocaine. The misuse of this medication can lead to serious and perhaps fatal reactions.
1.Compounded anesthetics should be used only under direct physician supervision in a clinical setting. 2.Avoid eye contact. 3.Avoid applying medication to large areas to prevent significant systemic adverse reactions. 4.Physicians should limit the surface area site application and use small quantities of medication to avoid potential complications. 5.The duration and frequency with which the medication is applied should be limited to avoid toxic absorption over time. 6.Patients should also inform treating physician of all underling health conditions and medication history to avoid possible side effects. 7.Application site should not be covered with bandage or other tightly binding materials. 8.Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not use this medication. 9.Medication should be applied to intact skin and should not be applied to skin that is raw, blistered, burned, or has open wounds. 10.Avoid applying medication to eyes, inside nostrils, mouth, or ears or to other mucus membranes. 11.Do not use medication simultaneously with other topical anesthetics. 12. Do not use medication with patients who are sensitive to para aminobenzoic acid (PABA) or are allergic to preservatives, dyes, benzocaine, lidocaine, tetracaine, dibucaine, or prilocaine. 13.Medical conditions including but not limited to blood disorders, enzyme deficiencies, liver disorders, heart disease, seizures, and allergic reactions should be evaluated by physician prior to the use of this medication. 14.Use of medication may result in the blocking of all sensation in the treated area. Therefore scratching, rubbing, and exposure to sunlight or extreme hot or cold temperatures should be avoided. 15.Use of medication may result in temporary skin discoloration or mild swelling at the application site.
16.Discontinue use of medication and seek immediate medical attention if rashes or hives appear on any part of the body, rapid and severe swelling occurs at application site or elsewhere, or if patient experiences shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, drop in heart rate or blood pressure, chest pains, light headedness, dizziness, drowsiness or confusion, ringing or buzzing in the ears, blurred or double vision, vomiting or convulsions. 17.Do not use medication with children, the elderly, and patients with heart disorders or liver disease. 18.Do not drive or operate heavy machinery when using this medication.
19.Use gloves for the application of the medication and dispose of the gloves, along with used tubes in a location that prevents accidental ingestion by children or pets.
